To tell the truth, we just thought it was a beautifully written letter which gives an insight into Orwell's generosity to his friends - as well as his life with Eileen during WWII. The "Censorship Department" in question was part of the British government's war effort - in theory its aim was to protect military secrets but the reality was much more mundane and, as Orwell writes, exasperating...
