There are many things in this essay to comment on.

I will comment on the Title of the Post: Can Socialists Be Happy.

I have often thought that Socialists were, for the most part, a relatively unhappy lot because they loved the workers, the poor, etc. because they did not have people in their actual lives to love. Because their personal circumstances were bereft of intimate human associations, they projected their forlorn and mangled affections onto broad abstractions such as the proletariat.

Happy people have people to love and they don’t give a damn about the world around them. For the common, happy, bourgeois scum bag, the world is just commodities and people to exploit and to take.

There are many other things I could say, but I don’t have the time, and I don’t see the Send button on my device.
