This was a splendidly written piece, and I suppose for some people it roused memories of cozy, comforting homey moments ' round hearths, and hot cider or whatever it is that people eat and drink for Christmas, but it reminded me of what a professor said to me about a writer I said I liked, Chaim Potik.

My professor, Rhoda Nathan, said that Potik was a second rate writer because he writes as if we were all sexless, chaste virgins. She said that after Freud , and after world wars one and two which demonstrated how asinine Christendom was (Christian Europe essentially slaughtered itself), any writer, writing for adults, had to address sex and sexuality.

Yeah, people may overeat. Truth be told, when I was a young guy, I was a real fattie. Not grotesquely obese, but I did not exactly like to take my shirt off. In late adolescence, I finally started gettiing laid. Sex was so much damn enjoyable it took my mind off of food.

I think many fatties are fat not because the food is so good but because their lives are so empty. They are loveless, sexless and our moronic, revolting popular culture gives us no satisfaction (unless we are as dumb as the Donald)

Why do people look forward to Christmas. For communion and love with other people ?(Generally no new committments are made, no new love is forged, no new understanding is reached) Religious Reasons ? (Even the religious don't believe in religion anymore. For Muslims, it's not really about Allah -- its about my team , team muslim, over your team, team Jewish or team Christian. Ditto the Jews and the Christians.

But let me spare you this long winded recitation of the demerits in this Holiday Season.

I am a critic and cynic and maybe a son of a bitch, but I can give you comedy.
